Portfolio of Works
Connections
Connections incorporates simplified forms using ink.
I celebrate individual strength and resilience and am also interested in the exploration of our place in communities; how you find a picture of the human narrative in nature, aligned in our design to live in relationship – like trees standing tall, supported through a system of deep roots, connections and regrowth.
Tranquility
I love spending time on and around water where I am able to quiet down, breath deeply and reflect. Embracing the powerful and strength even in the peacefulness, my response is ALWAYS a generally lifting of my spirit. I focus on light, colour and energy and share that joy and beauty in my art.
Working through addition and subtraction in diaphanous layers of beeswax, rhythms of movement unfold and come to life in compositions that awaken a memory of a place visited or envisioned. The depth of texture, colour and layering create almost a dream like ethereal feel and energy to a piece.
energy - along the trail and beyond
We live in a connected beautiful, awe-inspiring natural world - the light, colour and energy move me. This is my ‘happy place’ and if I listen carefully, I can hear it sing.
The dynamic energy and layers of brilliant colour found in the Northern Ontario trails and beyond or digging deep in my gardens translates to joyful pops of colour and organic forms in this encaustic series.
Reclaimed Beauty
This collection celebrates the beauty in the everyday and discarded. Reclaimed treasure like beach glass and stone are incorporated into work to add dimension and interest and a connection to the past.
sculpted joy
Encaustic is a very tactile medium. I am loving the play of sculpting with the medium in this collection. Simple forms, creating beauty in the shapes and shadows.
Joyful Smalls
My Joyful Smalls are all original encaustic works of art 6" x 6" or under. The perfect gift or add one to your collection and add a pop of happiness into your home.
Happy Homes
My Happy Homes series are 3D mini encaustic art works that are sure to add a pop of joy to your home. These encaustic art paintings, on reclaimed Ontario barn woodcut into house shaped structures, are often further embellished with Indian ink drawings and original transfers.
Some pieces are turned into function art in that I drill a hole in the top and you can add a candle or floral water tube to hold a bud.
Perpetual Calendar
In many European countries, the birthday calendar can be found in almost every home – hung in a central location. It acts as a daily reminder of upcoming birthdays, anniversaries and special days. Re-used year after year, the perpetual calendar becomes a lasting record of the life of family and friends.
